Figo if you want some sort of freaky body penetration effect
you cannot go wrong with Farlsborough's suggestion of Saw
I own both effects and I must admit Saw wins on all counts
here's a few reasons for you
1) saw isn't as played out and known (at the moment ) as NTA, think
the masked magician type shows and psychic's revealed
2) the items you need make it very very portable not some 14 inch needle
and protective case
3) I see no problems with your skin issue
4) After your initial 5 second private set up you are good to go no hiding the penetration behind your arm as in needle its there it happens very visibly to your spec's
Also as a last note I don't think the online demo's do this effect justice

I found that if you leave the RC on your arm for about 7-10 mins before performing it tends to do its job better(without exposing). I had this problem at the begining this was becasue i didn't let it dry enough before hand:)

Failing the needle through arm, You can always try needle through cheek. I know a guy who really does it. Makes you a little light headed when you realize it is not a trick. Other then that knife through arm is good although you somehow have to explain why you have a knife that is made for a giant and why it looks totally fake other then that it is really a good effect especially if you are using the blood.
