Just got this (at last!) and have to say that the material on there is excellent and well taught. Whether you come away with some great sleights (all useful ones) to add to your arsenal and a couple of tricks, the quality is so good, it's money well spent.

I can't understand the negativity towards Dave's performance on this DVD. He's laid back, which I much prefer than some loud-mouthed Californian cracking awful jokes in your face all the time.

I was drawn to this after being impressed with 2WO Faced, a few of the tricks on that DVD are ones I regularly perform and have served me well and I feel some of the material here will be equally as valuable.

Are all the tricks on this DVD set card effects? If so, the title "A Collection of Close-up Magic" is a little misleading. It would have been nice to see some effects with everyday items, minus the cards! To me, that is more along the lines of "close-up" as opposed to "card tricks".

Having said that, I'll probably pick this one up at some point.

They are pretty much all card effects though some of them use other things in conjunction with the cards, such as coins.
There are some real gems on here, top quality material. There's a superb 'peek' effect using a card case. You will not be disappointed by the quality of the material on this DVD.

I have seena few people state that Dave is a little boaring. I would disagree after a great jam session. Keep inmind folks its hard to get personalitys across on tape and with the wealth of material on here it leaves it open for you to add your own touches to these fantastic routines

Completely agree. I actually find his performance a lot more preferable to the "in your face" types that people seem to prefer these days.
The quality of the effects on this DVD and 2wo Faced are exceptional and if learnt fully will serve you well.

Great stuff. I'm looking forward to more from Dave in the future.

By the way, for anybody that has this, there is a card in the red gaff deck which makes Pip Trip even more convincing and powerful. PM me if you are interested in adding this little improvement to this effect.

Just to add to this thread, I have been performing Bil-Ink from this DVD recently and it's easy to do and gets some amazed reactions. Stunned silence with mouths open a few times, in fact.
Having digested most of the material on this DVD over the last couple of months, I can indeed agree with the original review and go on record as saying it's an excellent collection of effects and well worth every penny.
The false cuts on here are really worth learning and truly deceptive to a layperson.
