Books of Wonder?

Postby gammelsmurfen » Dec 15th, '07, 07:30

Are there really no review on Books of Wonder here? Or is it too old or something like that?

I've got vol 1 and 2, so if there's any interest in a review I'll try to post it as soon as I'm finished with the books.

I'd be interested in your thoughts on these books. I recently got them both and I'm only part way through book 1.

I think they were voted in the top 10 sets of books for magicians to own and the survey was by magicans.

The gent is a master at what he does and I'm sure many would love to here comments on the content etc

I would like to see your thoughts on these books. They have been in my "to get" list for a long time and I enjoy Mr Wonder's performances very much.

If you bought these books just for the tricks, then you will miss the best part. Most of the effects in these books are too complicated to build yourself, like the watch, wallet and ring. When you look at the illustrations on how it is constructed, you just have to marvel at Tommys ability to create a piece of art not only in the prop, but also his presentation of the effect. A Snails Progress is another absolute work of genius. You can see his attention to details and his thoughts behind the effect. I've seen this trick performed and was totally amazed at how powerful it looked. It is the best deminishing card routine I've seen. This one I am putting together and will probably make more than one before I get it right. So, if you want to get a look into the mind of a genius, learn how he thinks about the effects he wants to create. These are two great vol. of magic that you will want to read over many times. Look at his feelings in vol. 2 about One Big Happy Family. You will gain many insights into the man Tommy Wonder.
Cheers
