So is there a way to make a homemade flashpaper like or close to the commercial one?

Probably not unless you fancy blowing yourself up/setting fire to your house/having blackened stubs for hands (delete as appropriate). Honestly, probably just safer to buy the stuff.

Simply put: Anyone who is stupid enough to try and make their own flashpaper is stupid enough to burn down their own house.

Sorry - but some things should be left to the professionals.

You could probably find out how to make flash paper if you search around online a bit. However, you will hurt someone/thing at some point if you don't have the chemical expertise to make it properly and keep it stable. I know this sounds like a bunch of spoilsport grown-ups telling you not to play with matches but seriously, flash paper is not something you should try and make yourself. Really. It's very burny. Honest.

Flash paper is a low explosive.

If you try to make it, you WILL eventually have an accident; you seem determined to make it, so R.I.P.

Funny, we haven't heard from Minimindfreak for a long time... I wonder if he blew himself up making flashpaper...

Just to reiterate, just don't. I'm doing a masters degree in chemistry, you don't want to mess around with the chemicals involved, as even in "starting material" form they are very dangerous, and the reaction mixture can get out of hand very easily.

As an example of what a Very Bad Idea it is to make your own flash paper, legal issues aside, let me just say that the process has a reasonable amount in common with making TNT. This isn't kids stuff.

Flash paper isn't that hard to make - however it's only advisable if you really want to make a lot as the chemicals involved are quite hazardous to your health.

I watched a video called "Custom Flashpaper", which outlined all the steps - though watching it immediately put me off flash products for good.

In a nutshell you form a chemical bath using two very corrosive chemicals which releases a lot of very nasty fumes, and I mean A LOT. You would need to do this both outside and with a fan to suck the fumes away, plus goggles and something to cover your nose and mouth. You then soak the paper for a while, then move it into a large pot of hot water on a stove and soak for several hours, dry it and you're done.

I really wouldn't recommend it, nor would I follow any of the steps I have just outlined on a whim as I've probably missed something very important. Good luck, and I'll forward your Christmas card to A&E!

Paying a premium for flash paper in Vietnam and having to wait some time for it to arrive, is surely preferable to the alternative of attempting to make it yourself. And getting it disastrously wrong.

The number of people that wan to make flash paper isn't surprising, considering its price. However I wouldnt reccomend anyone try to make any unless they are certified in chemistry and have the proper laboratory equipment necessary

I really wouldn't mess around with making this stuff. I understand that it's expensive but it's got to be worth paying that price rather than the cost to your health and home (or worse, someone else) if something goes wrong with your potentially unstable homemade stuff.
