Fascinating.

I like the "Art of Legerdemain Discovered" as if it's a scandalous expose. It could just as easily be a modern publication.

Oh aye, and if you read the introduction, it seems that they had an immigration problem then too.

I do love the old magic books. I have a copy of routined Manipulation printed in the 40s i think or 50s any way while you read it, it is like being told off.
