G'afternoon everyone, greetings from Norway!

Postby gammelsmurfen » Dec 15th, '07, 04:47

Hello, I'm Jon from Trondheim, Norway. 25 yo. Anyone else here from that area?

Been interested in magic since I was a little kid after and discovered a book about card magic in my father's bookshelf. It was something as rare as a magic book in norwegian. Haven't seen one since then actually.

Didn't really practice much until last january when I discovered a lot of great magic videos on youtube. Been hooked since then.

Like all kinds of close-up, but probably impromptu card tricks the most. Hate the palm and the DL. Mostly because they are sleights that people expect you to do. Even when I've done tricks not even close to include the palm, some dude allways says "Oh, I know... you palmed the card.. bla bla" (and I have to admit I don't like the DL mostly because I suck at it) :P

Favorite magicians: Close-up: Tommy Wonder (pure magic)
Stage: David Sousa (so clean performance and no knick knack and no unnescesary moves)
Mentalism: I hate to admit it, but Derren Brown. Best performer I've seen.

Wow, that ended up a kinda long intro. Nice to be here, and I hope to chat with you all loads in the future

Jon AKA Gammelsmurfen!

Welcome John

Nice to find someone who has been inspired by YouTube and you'll find that these sites are often a point of conversation here

Enjoy your time here.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Hi and welcome to TM!

Why do you hate to admit Mr. Brown as your one of your favourites? The man is a genius!

Mike.

I defenately will. Don't know anyone else into magic effects yet, so hope this site will broaden my horizon outside of my one-room appartment.

Youtube has been a great place for inspiration for me. I love watching clips of the best magicians in the world today and in modern history. Don't see how some explanational videos can hurt much, seeing as very few has yet to earn a significant number of views. But I'll not start another youtube-conversation here. Love famous magic clips, period!

Hate to say I like Mr. Brown because it's a bit commercial, and it would seem "smarter" to say my favourite mentalist is Max Maven or Anneman or something like that. But then again, that would not be very honest of me ;)
