Finaly thought i had better say hello!!

Postby steve-h » Dec 18th, '07, 11:38

Hi all, after reading the forums for a while i thought i had better take the plunge and introduce myself.
Fist and formost, sorry in advance for any typos and missed capitals

Im steve, im 38 and based in the south west of the Uk

I first got into magic 20 years ago when i stumbled across a childrens magic book in a secondhand shop (book title forgotten, but still in storage somewhere!)

Captivated from the first page I contacted one of the magic suppliers listed in the back of the book (The now long gone supream magic) and signed up for a subscription to Abra Cadabra!

My first purchase after my catalogue arrived was a cigarette pull (was great for the pubs, still used sometimes) and a variation on the 2 in hand routine (never used!)

It didnt take me long to realise that "props" were not the way forward, and what i realy needed was to learn the basics. I managed to teach myself some shuffles and retains before coming to the decision to get help!
What followed was the inevitable purchase of "royal road" and "Mark wilsons complete course"

Since then I have never looked back. I perform regularly for family and friends, and i also do paid table hopping and shows for the local clubs (round table, rotary etc) around christmas time but ive never given up the day job!

Favorite tricks?!? you cant beat the classics, a chop cup is never beaten for a group, and everyone loves an ambitious card if "taylored" to the environment.

Thanks for letting me rave, hope to post more often and "talk to you all"

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
