Hi, name's Jennifer (sorry for stating the obvious!) and well, started magic for a year now. Been doing cards and coins, dabbled in stage magic for a wee bit, totally sucks in mentalism (or maybe i just can't make my audience get the whole mysterious aura) and hoping to improve!!

I haven't seen much female magicians from where i come from. So i hope there are some out there!

There, everything said in a short paragraph! Peace! :D

Howdy and welcome. I too don't fall into the mentalism realm. I find it interesting. It is interesting to watch in a strange sort of way. Mostly I find the mentalist tries to oversell what he is doing. Or is just boring. I have seen a few however that I have enjoyed. One is Mark Lewis, not sure if it is this Mark Lewis or not and have been trying to figure it out. I'll probably have to stop trying to 'devine' the answer and just ask him.

I must inform Bmat that I have never been to Pennsylvania so I do not know if I am the Mark Lewis he saw or not. Sometimes people confuse me with Martin Lewis who is a completely different person but on the other hand I don't think he does much in the way of mentalism.

Where did you see this most wondrous Mark Lewis personage? If it was in Canada or Mexico then it may well have been me.

Sorry to derail the welcome thread.

Hello and welcome, Jennifer.

Looking forward to your posts and contributions! ;)

P.S. Don't worry about finding guides, I notice that posts from female get much more attention and advice etc compared to same ones by guys! LOL.

I did not mean to derail this thread either. I do know Martin Lewis or I should say we crossed paths and perhaps it is him I am thinking. However I also don't think he does mentalism. Do you do Hynosis? The act I am referring to I saw in Vancouver at a psychic fair. This lewis did hypnosis some mentalism and when a friend and I went up after the show and introduced ourselves he brought out a deck of cards and was showing us some pretty impressive stuff. This would have been at least 15 yrs ago. I also wonder if I have seen you in Montreal. Back in the late 70's or early 80's they used to have an occult faire. We were invited to set up a booth, everyone went out of their way to stay as far away from us as possible as they were sure we were the left hand of the devil. Of course this was a very quebecois faire and we were English speaking Jews so that may or may not have had something to do with it.

Welcome Jennifer! I am pleased we are now quite a number of people who like the memorised deck (though I use Aronson's stack). I assume you also like mentalism?

Poor Jennifer's welcome thread has now gone to pot but I must inform Bmat that it was indeed me that he saw. It was a long time ago but less than 15 years I imagine. I have performed at the Vancouver psychic fair and around that time I was indeed doing hypnosis. In fact I had just started to learn it around that time and I practiced it at the psychic fairs.

I have worked at the Montreal psychic fair many times. It would have been in the early 90s rather than the late 70s or early 80s. It would have been in the Place Bonaventure. I am also an English speaking Jew.

I don't remember you but I do indeed do card tricks in a most magnificent manner.

You have indeed met me. I must say that you are very privileged.

Oh I have no doubt that you would not remember me, possibly my father.
I say 15 years because I have been living in the States for 6 yrs. I was living in BC for 10 yrs before that. It could have easily been fewer then 15 years. Also I don't remember yesterday so it could have been the 90's I was very young. I'd have to ask my father if it was the bonaventure.

But I digress and turn this conversation back to Jennifer.

I expect I met you in Vancouver and not Montreal. I came to Canada in 1992. I am glad you enjoyed the card tricks.

Oh? Were we talking about Jennifer?

Hello Jennifer.
