It's still a point worth making though. Scott F. Guinn makes it quite nicely:

"Love God, laugh more, spend more time with the ones you love, play with children, do good to those in need, and eat more ice cream. There is more to life than magic tricks."

I always find it bizarre to encounter magicians so wrapped up in their world that they don't find the time for much else, and working in this vacuum they truly believe the magic they perform constitutes art.

Exactly! Magic is fun and the world would be a duller place without it but there are other things in life , you always need a balance .

I suppose it depends on who you are. Take David Copperfield for example, his whole life is/was a magic show, practice practice practice practice, perform perform perform. He loves it though!
