Hello from Canada

Postby Alphatosh » Jan 4th, '08, 03:08

Hello everyone, my name is Kent and I am from Canada. I was roaming around the net trying to find some good books to buy on mentalism for beginners, and stumbled across this forum. I have loved magic all my life, and have gone through little stints of reading books on card tricks mostly. however I have just gotten into mentalism. (it's not very well known in Canada) and the concept fascinates me. I just bought Corinda and Annemann to get me started on the subject.
I am very much looking forward to learning from this community as I would still consider myself an ammateur in most aspects of magic. however I am really ready to do some dedicated homework and start to advance my skills. I look forward to talking to you guys. thanks.
Kent

Welcome.....more Canadians here each and every day. I am in Alberta...are you a hockey (blades fan?) I live in Medicine Hat.....I have relatives in Saskatoon and am planning to come and visit one of these months....maybe we can hook up at a restaurant and brainstorm.

I looked at mentalism as a way to expand my repetoire.....but just couldn't get into it.....like some of the ideas and the way it comes across but just can't pull it off myself.

Are there any shops in Saskatoon or do you have to purchase online? Any magic restaruants or pubs? I wouldn't mind doing a show when I come to visit...outside of the one I promised my cousin for her school classs....she obviously is a school teacher.

I can't help you much in the way of mentalism....but would be willing to try so pm me anytime......I think the Corinda and Anneman purchases are good ones by the sound of general opinion.

Tons of mentalism info on the site

thanks to everyone for your warm welcomes. I have been browsing around the last couple of days and the wealth of knowledge here is amazing. I am very glad that I stumbled apon it.

Moodini: I am definitely a hockey fan. I played all the way growing up and still play in rec leagues. I am not the biggest blades fan though. don't have muhc time to go watch the games. I was watching the world juniors today though and definitely enjoyed the outcome. There is some book stores here, but nothing that has a large magic base. some basic card trick books here an there but no book store with a mini section for books on magic, which is dissipointing. so I do buy my books online yea. most of them anyways

I also have relatives in medicine hat. you should let me know if you do end up coming here. I am a busy guy though, I am in university right now taking electrical engineering and computer science also so a lot of my time also goes to that.

what about you? do you buy books online or is there a good store there that supplies books?
