Elevator Card?

Postby Lord Freddie » Jan 5th, '08, 18:51

I have the black stealth deck and one of the gaff cards that comes with it is referred to as an 'elevator card'. The card itself has a normal face and the back is half grey, half normal card back.
Now, it appears that 'elevator card' is another term for an ACR, but I can't work out how to use this card and what purpose it has.

Has anyone any ideas? I received no booklet with the deck or anything like that and I have never seen a gaff card like it. Apparently it has been described as "genius".

If it is what I think it is, you fold along the grey part. You put the deck in the case and close it, put this folded card in on top and then one other card on top of that. You pull out both cards making it looking like the full deck and then squish it into just two cards. This may be what you are talking about.

Also sounds very much like good ol' Paul Harris's vanishing deck gimmick.

The artist who does not rise, descends.

Not read Paul Harris Vanishing Decl. Is it in Art of Astonishment?
I only have vol 3 so will have to invest in the other two.
Wasn't sure whether I needed to fold it or what but it's all becoming clearer now!

Thanks. :D

Ooh you're missing out! It's in the first one, near the front and cryptically titled 'The Vanishing Deck'. Although the gimmick isn't quite the same it sounds like there's definite similarities.

Cheers Bronz. I shall be getting the other two volumes as soon as the Christmas wipe-out has cleared. The third one is excellent and now I want to get the whole set.
Thanks everyone for your help. :D
