Enchanted Cube or Insta Cube?

Postby Replicant » Jan 8th, '08, 00:30

Does anyone know what the difference is between these two Rubik's Cube tricks? Having done some reading up on some magic dealer websites, it would appear that Insta Cube is examinable afterwards, whereas Enchanted Cube cannot be handed out for examination. Is that the only difference? Can either be examined beforehand? Insta Cube is nearly twice the price so it would be good to know what the differences are before splashing out.

Just a thought, if you're thinking of visiting Blackpool, you could contact a few of the exhibitors and ask if they can bring these along so you (and others!) can see them in action.

Hi

I only sell Insta Cube, but have played with both.

With Enchanted, you can't hand it out, and have limitations on how you show the cube after its solved.

With Insta Cube, the puzzle is totally solved, so you can hand it out for full examination.

Both cubes can't be handed out or examined BEFORE the effect.

Hope this helps

Insta Cube is sold by www.alakazam.co.uk and www.world-of-magic.co.uk for about £40. It looks like the better of the two options, what with it being examinable afterwards.

The enchanted cube tends to be a bit cheaper, but everyone including www.magicshop.co.uk seems to sell Insta-Cube at £40 or under so its still good value.

One important point is that you have a gimmick to ditch with insta - cube, but not with the Enchanted cube

Hope this helps

It seems to me a lot of money for a "Show off" effect. Where is the magic in just solving a cube? Where a lot of people can do one in 20 seconds or so?

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

I thought it may be a good attention grabber for table hopping as it's something many people can relate to. Even common people.
It is rather pricey though for what it is, but it's the kind of thing that would impress your average layman.

College common room today...challenged a boy called Raj..(the nerd) who can solve a cube in about a minute and a half to a race. About 10-15 people gathered round and guess who won....

Correct. Acted puzzled for ten seconds and then whoop. I win. He did mention after he realised it must be some sort of gimmick and wasnt going to try and embaress me!

I use the enchanted cube and its brilliant! You can do vanishes and appearances with it to really work it into your routine.

Thanks, everyone. Despite the price, I do like the sound of Insta Cube. Enchanted Cube sounds a bit restrictive for my tastes - if you can't hand out the cube afterwards, it seems a bit pointless.

I've had Insta-cube for a while and having practised the toss in the air and the 'move' at the end I've started to take it on the road.

Effects are great. At the end all the heat is on the cube so you've plenty of cover to ditch what you need to in good time.

Only downside of handing the cube out for inspection (nobody will ever find anything) is that people start to twist it and jumble it up again so you've either got to be able to solve it by the non-magical method or think of a reason to stop them mixing it up too much. A difficult one as you are supposed to be able to solve it by magic.

But overall a great effect that I'm starting to love.

Here's an interesting thought...

I recently learned how to solve a genuine Rubik's Cube for real. My best time so far is 1m 49s - true, I'm not breaking any speed records here, but people do tend to be quite impressed that I can actually do it. So do I need to get an Insta- or Enchanted Cube when I'm already getting some interest from solving a genuine Cube? Hmmm....

(Actually, with my CUPS, I'll probably end up with an Insta Cube at some point in the not-too-distant future  )

osterlind's effect on "no camera tricks" is him blindfolded, solving a real rubicks cube, with two people either side of him "concentrating on the colours"...he takes a couple of minutes to solve it...

good drama...

very true - iv managed 1 min 20seconds, but average about two minutes, and I must say that it does get good reactions doing it normally...

though I do sometimes wish that I could just chuck it in the air...

So I may well invest in the future ;)
