Vernet Question

Postby Georgias Dad » Jan 11th, '08, 19:51

Hi all, I'm new around here, could anyone tell me how far a TT should go on to your thumb mine only goes on just past the nail, is this the right placement?

It's just that it makes my thumb look so long.

Hi there

Personally, I like the TT to reach my knuckle and be fairly tight without actually cutting off all circulation! Otherwise, the fear may be that it would fall off - hey, presto, that's a good trick, Magician amputated his thumb without any blood.........

According to a book i have all about TT it should fit on thumb to the first knuckle. I like to have it on the first knuckle as it's easier to make vanishes and also to end up clean easier.

Years ago I had a cheapo TT which just about covered my nail, but the standard vernet one comes to the knuckle. Unless you have mASSIVE hands of course...

Hands? Or a TT if its a TT use a bucket of warm water and a broom handle. Sounds like something beard would enjoy.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

I actually bought a vernet TT that was made so you could mould it if you put it into boiling water and it works really well but i forgot the actual name of it :(.

Not possible as far as I know, but if it's a vernet one you can mould it into the contours of your thumb under hot water. If you don't have the standard vernet, I recommend it. It's only three or four quid.

Just past the nail is fine. I have big fingers and they all fit me like that.

It is, you might try looking at how you show your hand as being empty.

TIP: Point it at the spectators.

Funny, My TT fits a little past the nail (close to the knuckle), but I was just reading Gary Darwin's 101 TT tricks and he says that the TT

Should Not be over the knuckle
Should Fit over the Nail
(does have diagrams)

I guess what ever works for you is OK.
