Another RRTCM question. (top card appearance?)

Hey again.

On pg 74 of the RRTCM, on step 7 of the effect "the twenty-sixth card," a brief description is given on how to make it seem as if the spectators chosen card appeared face up on top of the deck as the deck was tossed from one hand to the other.

I can't get this to work at all, I have experimented with it at different angles and such but I just cant get it to do anything.

does anyone have any advice? does anyone use this method?

Take the deck in biddle grip. Slide the top card to the right. A part of it will then be underneath and covered by your right hand. Drop the deck (free fall, horizontal) from your right hand to your left hand. Hands separated aprox. 50 cm. That should do the trick.
