REEL MAGIC QUARTERLY

Postby danata » Jan 9th, '08, 23:09

The discs should be well on their way to the distributors by now, we usually get them from there (America) WITHIN THREE DAYS! so I would say another week or so. Once the distributors get them they send by U.P.S. EXPRESS (Flown into the U.K. by plane!) we pay the shipping & duty etc, so as we can send to you for just £20.00 a year!!!

These really are Magic's BIGGEST BARGAIN!

ISSUE THREE FEATURES:

An Interview with Jonathan Pendragon, Jonathan tells the amazing story of the time he rescued a dog from death row and how the dog returned the favor.

John Luka talks about his new book 'Uncovered' and performs and explains his fantastic card effect "The Invisible Palm"

Andrew Pinard goes to Canada and speaks with Jay Sankey about magic and creativity.

Jon Armstrong Small Things, Big Difference.
How to Make your Break Smaller.

Simon lovell - Simon said IT!
The ever-controversial Simon Lovell sounds off on video versus reading.

Garrett Thomas with 'Try This At Home'

REVIEWS:

David Regal - Tricks of the Trade
Wayne Kawamoto - Choice Cuts
Wayne focuses on the work of Danny Garcia with a LIVE interview

BONUS TRICKS:

A brand new effect from Ellusionist.com called "Hold Out". Gimmicks included!

Big Blind Media's David Forrest performs and explains "8 of 2 kinds", an ace
production from his upcoming DVD "4 by 4."

John Luka's "The Invisible Palm" - Performed and explained.

Danny Garcia's "Quarters" - A relentlessly impossible, extremely visual coin through glass routine.

I hope this helps!

All good wishes

Mike

I must say I've been very impressed with the quality of the bonus tricks so far, and the third issue sounds just as good. To anyone who has not subscribed yet - why not? You're mad.

Looking forward to the 3rd edition. The series has been top drawer so far!

Another recommendation to anyone from me, there's quite a good variety of stuff on the first 2 and the 3rd looks like it will follow suit.

REEL MAGIC QUARTERLY

Postby danata » Jan 16th, '08, 09:53

Hi! Just to let everyone know, that the distributors have now received the shipment of Reel Magic Quarterly in the States!

Our quota (plus extras, so you can still subscribe, if you havn't already done so!) will be flown over today (Weds 16th Jan) so should be with us on Friday, when they will then be sent out to our many subscribers.

Your withdrawal symptoms should then cease by Sat! (or maybe Monday, if the post is slow!!)

All good wishes

Mike

REEL MAGIC

Postby danata » Jan 18th, '08, 23:17

Reel Magic Quarterly arrived today as I stated they would, & I did get them all to the Post Office today. More than half of them went out with the 5 oclock collection. Unfortunately they were so slow at the post office, that some of them missed the collection (The last one!), & the post office wouldn't let me put them in the post box outside (with a later collection) because they "Had labels on them!!!! so some will be on their way tomorrow.

We've also got no phones at the moment in the Studio, despite the fact that I've still got internet connection (on the same line!) I've switched phones, pulled everything out, disconnected this & that, & then just put the phones in, & NOTHING! I can't dial out, & I can't receive incoming.
So if you phone, you will hear the ringing, but nothing happens this end, it's just ringing in the exchange. I am here & I am open for business! The internet orders are still coming through O.K. & everything is going out the same day! I just can't speak to any of you, HOW FRUSTRATING!

Keep an eye for news on my News Page on the website for updates.

I still respond to emails as fast as I can!!

All good wishes

Mike

I've only watched the bonus tricks and some of the reviews so far; I've said it before and I'll say it again - David Regal is a very funny man. And Wayne Kawamoto reminds me of a Japanese/American Dale Winton, albeit slightly chunkier.

Danny Garcia's stuff looks very good; I loved Quarters but it's a shame I can't do a muscle pass. John Luka's version of Invisible Palm was good, too. Not the best version I've seen (Arnaud Chevrier's performance of this is by far the best I've seen), but simple enough to learn for the likes of me! David Forrest also makes an appearance with a nice little ace/king production. I probably won't be using the gimmicks for Hold Out but I guess it's a novel idea for a card revelation.

I already have my own idea for the Hold-Out gimmicks using a blank facer...

I was quite diappointed by the Jonathon Pendragon interview. I expected him to be a showbizzy, charming man full of good advice and anecdotes but I found him to be as despressing as a Radiohead album ( expects barrage of retorts from studenty types with no taste in music).
Miserable, full of self-pity and dull. I found him to be a rather self-indulgent fellow bemoaning his lot and the only thing whilst watching this interview that stopped me from putting my head in the oven is the fact we're all electric.

David Regal is as funny as usual and always a joy to watch. The Sankey interview is interesting too. Particularly the early clip of him doing stand-up comedy!!
