9pm, ITV1, Tonight.

"Improvisational comedy show presented by Paul Merton in which star guests are forced to rely on their wits after they are thrust into a set-up which they know nothing about. Tonight's guests include Australian comic Hamish Blake, presenter Clive Anderson, Coronation Street favourite Sally Lindsay and stand-up Michael McIntyre. Plus, Paul Merton steps into his own scene which he knows nothing about."

Not only that, but if the first episode was anything to go by, it'll also be very funny indeed.

I saw it last week... absolutely brilliant. I thought Fern Britton was hillarious. And what about Phill Thompson:

Nun: Name?
Phill: Sister Brian the Blessed (Not everyone will get this)

James, 19, Lifelong student of magic and will carry on learning for the rest of my days if I'm a very lucky boy.

There were some good bits last week, definitely worth watching.

However, didn't think john thompson was up to scratch really, I'm not saying I could've done better...but his "Brian the Blessed" remark shows his true calibre and the politician bit just wasn't working for me...

maybe I was too tired or something?

I have never actually watched the Australian version of this show (which has been around for a few years), but sometimes I've seen the last few minutes when a show I plan to watch is on next.

Interesting that an Australian show has been adapted for Britain; how often does that happen?

Does anyone else feel it was a strange coincidence that Clive Anderson won?
Just thinking back to the days when he hosted "whos line is it anyway" where a certain Paul Merton used to appear.

Great show, though I would be happy to see Paul doing all the improv himself. Can't think of anyone in the business now who could rival him.

I saw 20 minutes of it and found it unfunny really unfunny. Then again the best thing Anderson done was upset the Beegees. But except for upseting the Brothers Gibb thats about it.

I am not a fan of Pauls presenting style either. I think his best show was Have i got new for you. His remakes of the Blood Doner etc was rather insulting to the original writers of said programs.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

Surprisingly enough, it wasn't quite as good as last week, but you never know, it might be hilarious next week. It depends on the people they have on that particular week. As an experiment in light entertainment it's WAY better than the lowest common denominator dancing/skating/singing/phone-voting dross they usually put on.

I also watched a new Jimmy Carr DVD last night. I still don't like him, but I have to admit he's a very good writer of jokes indeed.

Is it just me, or every week do they have 1 comic actor, 1 popular comedian, 1 actor who isnt funny but gets laughs to make them feel better and 1 comedian that is unheard of but is usually the funniest.

Overall I enjoyed it and I especially enjoyed the little clips, like for example, Richard Wilson working in a restaurant with people asking questions about what type of f***ing cheese it is!

All the best,
Croz
