Mc A-levels?

Postby Tomo » Jan 28th, '08, 13:41

Is it April 1st yet?

I ask because, along with a budget airline and Network Rail, McDonald's has won approval to offer courses that could go to make up part of the requirements for an A-Level.

I can't help but believe that this is a highly cynical move.

If those McD's courses reach degree level, would that make succesful candidates a BurgerMeister?

I think it's a good idea, anything that encurages people to learn has got to be a good idea.

I agree, but I'm not entirely convinced this isn't as altruistic as it seems. After all, what company does something not expecting a return?

There is actually a Mcdonald's university in America - it does management courses and is called 'Hamburger University'.

Can you imagine it?

Yes but there's no new learning going on. A lot of these skills are learned normally 'on the job' as it were.

The only thing new here is the delusion of anyone who regards these courses as genuine degrees.

Not just McDonalds going down this road in the future - other professions I believe will be too.

'Do you want fries with that shake?' does not require a textbook!

Yes but it makes them go down easier.
