"COINVEXED" Signed COIN BEND by David Penn

Postby dp » Dec 23rd, '07, 16:01

Hi Guys

I hope you are all well.
I just wanted to give you the heads up on a coin bend effect I have coming out via world magic shop. It will be launched on the first day of the Blackpool convention.
I am off to Australia for a few weeks but will be checking back every now and then if anyone has any questions. David Taylor (dat8962) and Jim Trainer are two of the few people that are fully aware of the product and may reply on my behalf.

Product details are below along with a video link:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xwbmbPOG-YA

Info:
David Penn has finally released his long-awaited COINVEXED gimmick to the magic world. After signing a coin the spectator experiences something extraordinary as the signed coin bends within their own hands. The spectator can then keep the coin as a souvenir that freezes the moment of magic forever.

No Switches, The coin that the spectator has signed is the same coin that bends.
Only the coins and the sharpie are seen and the sharpie is perfectly normal!
No special chemicals just a diabolically clever gimmick that hides in full view.

“David Penn has the best solution for a signed, bending coin routine I have ever seen. This is sure to become a regular performance piece for many professional magicians”.
Nicholas Einhorn. The Magic Circle Close-Up Centenary Magician

“Finally, a coin bending gimmick that I actually want to use”.
Marc Spellman. Leading European Mentalist

“This is what we have come to expect from David Penn: Revolutionary new thinking and an expertly structured routine that is now destined to become a modern classic”.
Chris Priest. Millennium Champion Of Close-Up Magic

“This is too good to sell!”
Braco. World renowned inventor and magical historian.

“Charlie the chicken and I never leave home without it and we look forward to damaging the economy forever"
Max Somerset. TV Magician and star of ‘Max Magic’.

Thanks David, have a good trip 'down under' and hopefully our Antipodean members will be able to see you in action while you're there. IF you have any commercial gigs lined up, let us know dates, times, places etc....there.

I just popped in the office to pick something up and my email box has been flooded with comments on coinvexed. Christmas hasn’t even started yet.

Anyone sending me any Pms or emails, ill respond when i get back on the 2nd January. Dont stop from posting here as Dat8962 or Jim Trainer will sure to respond.

All i can say, it will be the best purchase of 2008. In my opinion.

Have a great Christmas.

"COINVEXED" Signed COIN BEND by David Penn

Postby dp » Dec 29th, '07, 09:28

Hi Guys or should I say G’Day!

I have had quite a few emails and private messages regarding ‘Coinvexed’ so I would like to take this opportunity to answer the most common questions in this post.

As pointed out to me in a PM, most people would want to achieve the following from a coin bend:

1. To be able to actually borrow a coin.

2. To have the borrowed coin marked by the spectator.

3. To cause the same borrowed, marked coin to bend in the open with minimal blocking and with strong, well motivated audience attention control.

4. To be able to create the illusion that the borrowed, marked coin is bending in the hands of the spectator.

5. To allow the spectator to keep the borrowed, marked, bent coin.

The result of this effect fulfils Michael Ammar's criteria for "Making Magic Memorable". According to Michael Ammar on his well known audio tape of the same name; if you can borrow an object, alter it magically and then return it in its magically altered condition, the magically altered object, in this case the signed/bent coin, lives on as testimony to your miracle working powers. Just think about how your powers grow to a mythological status as the story gets told and retold with the evidence in hand.

So the $64,000 question is can all this be done with Coinvexed? The answer is of course YES!

Another question I have been asked is “How severe can you make the bend?”
The bend can be as severe as you wish, right up to 90 degrees although I personally prefer a more subtle bend. The dirty work is very quick but, as the gimmick hides in full view, there really is nothing to hide. This very brief moment is visible on the video but due to the construction of the routine it is always undetected. Watch it again and you will see what I mean.

People have naturally been asking how Coinvexed differs from the Quantum Bender 2?
I have bought the QB2 as well as every other coin bender out there and my main goal was to create a coin bender that allows you to covertly create the bend at a point in the routine when you have no heat on you at all. I don’t want to go into the secret of the QB2 but if you are in the know I am sure you would agree that with the QB2 you need to get the coin signed, get the pen back off the spectator and then at this point in the routine you have built them up to a point of expectation where the heat is on and they are expecting something to happen. This is a difficult time in the QB2’s routine as you still have to perform the move with them burning you. With the structure of the Coinvexed routine there is absolutely no heat on you at the time you do the dirty work. In the eyes of the spectator the trick hasn’t started yet and the misdirection works for itself. I’m sure we all have one routine in our repertoire where all the work is performed early and you can concentrate on the performance. That is what Coinvexed brings to the coin bend. Coinvexed gives you the freedom in your routine and performance that I and other performers have been waiting for. Also $450 is a pretty big difference as well.

Another question is whether you get a gimmick with ‘Coinvexed’ or just a DVD with a routine.
The answer is that you get both an instructional DVD and a precision made gimmick. When Nick Einhorn finally saw the gimmick (at first he was staring straight at it and couldn’t see it at all) he actually swore in disbelief. He also completely missed the moment that I used it in the routine, as does everyone if they have no prior knowledge of the effect that you are going to perform. I can’t say what the gimmick is before the release but everyone who has seen it realises its huge potential straight away.

If you are interested in this effect but are unsure about any part of the routine and/or you have a serious question, feel free to post it here or visit the worldmagicshop stand at the Blackpool convention where I will be happy to show you the routine and let you see its potential for yourself first hand.

Sorry if I didn’t answer you all individually but I think this post covers all the points raised so far.

Now if you’ll forgive me it’s time to head back to the pool as it’s 35 degrees here in Cairns, Australia and there is a cool beer waiting for me in the esky. (Sorry about that…) 8)

Kind regards

David Penn

edouard that’s the beauty of coinvexed. You can use this with the currency of the country you are performing in. It is that versatile.

This sounds like a must buy, but a couple of questions
1) How strong do you have to be to use the gimmick, could a lady or child use it?
2)I have looked, and may have missed it, but there is no mention of price?
3) What is the approximate final angle of bend?
4) Does the gimmick have a finite life and have to be regularly replaced?

Hi Lownatic

Here are the answers to your questions.

1)
This question is relative. A woman and teenager onwards will be able to use the gimmick without a problem. As for child it depends on their strength.

2)
The RRP for the UK is £85.00

3)
The final angle of the bend is for you to decide. The gimmick is manufactured in a way that you can decide on how much of an angle you want.

4)
The gimmick has been manufactured to last a lifetime. Unless you lose it of course. Nothing to replace.

I hope these answers your questions. Anything else please do not hesitate to ask.

Postby dp » Feb 8th, '08, 12:12

Hi Guys,

Just thought I would give you the heads up. Coinvexed has been sent out to be reviewed by a some TM forum members this week. We look forward to the reviews very soon.

It will be great to see you at the Blackpool International Magic Convention starting on 22nd February 2008. World Magic Shop will be the only Dealer with this product at Blackpool. You can find us on the Balcony Sales Arena where I will be demonstrating the effect. Whilst demonstrating, WorldMagicShop are offering some unbelievable deals to celebrate the launch. These deals will change throughout the launch but come and see me personally and mention Talk Magic and if you buy ‘Coinvexed’ you can also get ‘Bang On by Marc Oberon’ for a seriously silly price! (First 200 only). And that’s just the start! More incredible deals will be running throughout the show with high value items being sold for silly money when you buy any of the 8 new products being launched.

See you there.

David
