Ive just obtained a vanishing cane and i want some advice on the best way to make it vanish, e.g. roll it up in a newspaper etc

Set fire to a spectator, perfect misdirection!

roll it in a large silk.
vanish it to two silks.
drum tube it, ie put it in a long tube then cap both ends with paper and have spec keep hold of it for safe keeping.
produce cane from small bag and as spec to open his tube.
stick it in a tube and spike it with swords ok nitting needles then vanish.
