Gazzo or Anmar?

Postby Mr.Mystery » Jan 31st, '08, 20:28

I want to buy a good DVD (or book) on cups and balls. Currently I'm looking at either Street cups and balls starring Gazzo or Michael Anmar's DVDs.

The Gazzo DVD is in my mind a very expensive way to learn one routine, though having said that, it is extremely thorough. The Ammar stuff is good but one that seems to seldom get mentioned is the Eddy Ray 2 DVD set which has a hell of a lot on it. I think Clive at www.cards4magic.co.uk stocks it.

I don't have either, but after seeing performance clips of Gazzo, I found him to be rude, arrogant and completely unlikeable. I could watch him teaching a C&B routine as much as I could stomach Michael Barrymore telling you how to throw a good party.
He was just rude to spectators which doesn't suprise me he get heckled. If a street entertainer, that I was enjoying, was as rude to me as Gazzo is to his audience, I wouldn't give them some cash, they would receive a dry slap instead.

I have Ammar vol 1, and while I find it a good resource, I would recommend taking a look at Bob White's 'Practical Cups and Balls' dvd. I've still to post a review of this, but it is a fantastic disc, which goes through a fairly basic, yet very entertaining routine in meticuluos (sp?) detail. His incredibly in-depth description of the ball vanish is worth the price of the disc alone. It really is very good. I've forgotten where I got it from (it may have been worldmagicshop.co.uk) but a tiny bit of googling, and you'll be well on the way to cups and balls-ey goodness.

In my opinion, that is.
