CARDS - LITTLE FINGER BREAK

Postby Bigtone53 » Feb 3rd, '08, 22:44

Newbie here.

Any guidance on how to get a one-handed little finger break (while the other hand is occupied) under 2-3-4 etc cards would be greatly appreciated. Under one card is relatively easy but pushing over with the thumb seems to me to give a random number of cards.

Thanks and regards, TonyW

Not sure how this is under exposure, but I'll do the best I can.

Just push off with your thumb. If you can't get it, then practice more. Takes some practice to get natural, but it can be done very quickly with practice.

Good luck!

just practice riffling up and down the deck with your pinkie finger...

you should be careful with exposure though!

You can riffle with the thumb, transfer to the pad at the base of the thumb, then transfer it to the pinkie.

I would use that method if you can get the attention off of the deck.

Currently Reading "House of Mystery" (Abbott, Teller), Tarbell, Everything I can on busking

In a word, practise

Nothing worthwhile in magic is both cheap and easy. You've got some good (verging on exporuse) suggestions here.

Learn to pinkie count. It's hard, but invaluable once learned.

Practice, practice, practice, practice!!! Get yourself a copy of "Expert Card Technique" by Jean Hugard and Frederick Braue. There are a few counts in there :)

I agree with beetlejuiceecis - ''Expert Card Technique" by Jean Hugard and Frederick Braue'' is an essential book for anyone getting into card magic - I'd also reccomend the 'Royal road to card magic'. That said you may find it easy to learn from a DVD as this has the advantage of seeing it (that said I think the DVD vs. Book conversation is a seperate thread and debate! :D ) . If you would prefer to see it on a DVD I would personally recommend the 'complete card magic' series - if you can get past the extremely cheesy presenter then there is a wealth of knowledge to be learnt from this - and it includes a great section on one and two handed counts :D .

Hope thats some help[/quote]
