The Invisble Touch by Lior Manor

Postby russellmagic » Feb 3rd, '08, 21:49

What they say:The Invisible Touch is now a classic effect. It was invented by Lior Manor in 1987 and since then has been performed on tv by the top mentalists all over the world.
During the effect, the volunteer on stage feels the mentalist touching her lightly, while the audience sees that the performer hands were nowhere near her!
On the dvd you will learn:
2 spoon bending routines, himber ring routine, pk time effect with the invisible touch, the invisble touch itself, the enhanced PK touches by Banachek-performance only.... bonus includes the 10 poker deal for trade shows and emcee work.

Ok this dvd is ok :? I saw Derren Brown perform this and thought it was amazing so was very interested in the dvd. When it arrived I took a look at it and first thought £21.99 and doesn't come with the gimmicks!!!!!
The method was exactly what I thought it might have been and was disappointed to realize I was right. Mind you the spoon bends on the dvd are good but if you have the banachek mind bending dvd you will not gain anything form this dvd.
The himber ring routine and the pk time effect are not explained only shown but with the invisble touch explained for each one. But to be brutally honest you only have to be shown how to do it once and you have the knowledge of how to do it.
The 10 poker deal is a nice little effect you can do either on stage or close up. It's a poker swindle you'll never lose.

Ease of learning out of 5 - 3 as some sleights used and will take a bit of getting used to with the gimmick.

out of 10 I would give this dvd a rating of 6, some good things but let down as the dvd is pricey and should of came with a few gimmicks to get you started.

I know the gimmick you're talking about mate and there is a book(let) on the market for just over a tenner which has this and many other effects in it usng the same gimmick.

I have seen people perform invisible touch, it is an good effect and worth knowing. Its not really a magician-fooler effect as I think most people who have been around awhile will know the method. But non-magicians wont!

The gimmick can be bought for around £5 and many people will already have them I think. If the DVD teaches some other useful techniques then £21.99 doesnt seem too expensive.

This is a good thinking to expand the use of a good prop. You are not out to fool magicians bu amaze the public and the reactions I get from this are fantastic...it is all about presentation and creating the context in which a miracle like this can take place.

It was getting late in the day, but didn't Lior perform this at Tabula Mentis II last year? He's a very impressive, creative thinker and his client list bears it out. Some of the ideas he showed us were just genius.

Yes, but it's one of those things that - since it's already in print - doesn't really justify a DVD release. Also, the 10 Card Poker Deal is tacked-on filler.

Actually, Lior had this out long, long ago before PK Touches was even released.

The new CD version has recently come to the fore for reasons I'm not privy to but as was explained to me, it's been out there for some time but is only just now being discovered.

Lior is as honest as the day is long so I do not believe he's attempting to take advantage of anyone at any level. He strives to honor his mentor who just happens to live in the UK... Roni Shachnaey (who also coached and guided Guy Bavli and several other young Israeli talents).

No, the video isn't a smartly packaged E styled product but I think Lior did a fair job and is asking a fair price for something HE CREATED and was actually shared by him with Banachek long ago... so let's not call him "the cheap imitation" when in truth, the faux aspect stems from all those that adapted this mode of thinking to the information they shared without crediting Lior (and I'm pretty certain Steve does give Lior credit in his materials concerning this, he's too honest a guy to not give credit where it is due).

Anyhow, just wanted you all to understand the time line on things a bit better, that's all.

I don't think he means 'PK Touches'. I think he's referring to the Mesika Loops booklet that included this effect and credited it to Manor way, way back. That's certainly what I'm referring to.

Thanks Mandrake.

To reiterate:

The DVD offers a reissue of the orginal effect, plus spoon bending, a poker deal routine, and a cash counting sleight that are shown in full swing at corporate events.

IMHO, the DVD offers value for money. The combination of the invisible touch with a spoon bend and spoon twist is worth the price alone.
