Imaginative astronomy

Postby Adrian Morgan » Feb 11th, '08, 14:36

In the last couple of days I've been having some fun using some astronomy software to see what the sun looks like viewed from other stars, and then inventing constellations that include the Sun, as might be invented by extra-terrestrial civilisations.

I'm sharing these images in the belief that many people will find them entertaining. There is more information on my blog (outerhoard.wordpress.com).

1. From Alpha Centauri, the Sun is the snout of some animal.

2. From Vega, the Sun is the beak of a pterodactyl.

3. From Altair, the Sun is near a crocodile, and perhaps part of a weapon being thrown at the crocodile.

Coo, interesting stuff. What software did you use?

I was watching the Sky at Night the other week about the upcoming lunar eclipse. It got me wondering what it would look like from the surface of the Moon. Imagine it, the Earth eclipsing the Sun, ringed by fire!

You're welcome. If anyone else has any speculations about the astrology of aliens, or anything of a comparable nature to share, I'd like to see it.

Using the same astronomy software, I have now discovered the location of Heaven. Should I tell you where it is or should I keep it as secret as magic?
