Aha! This was the set I saw some time ago, but couldn't remember the name to find it again.

Thanks!

Have you considered a Super Sharpie? It's a bit overpriced but has the benefit of being ink rather than pencil which can be seen easier under various conditions and distance. Let's not mention the 'who uses pencil these days' debate though! :-)

Horses for courses.

It's far easier to carry billets and some 'ikea' style pencils around than a Sharpie. Also, when billet/postit pad writing, a Sharpie bleeds through.

Pencils all the way for me :D

I've used both boon and vernet with much success. If you use a vernet, it must be handled appropriately (of course!). But, there are many things i like about it - it is probably the one I use most often.

Walk into a room, any room at all, anywhere in the world. Look around that room, then announce, at the top of your voice:

Everyone, please hold up your sharpy.

Look around. Everyone in the room that holds up a sharpy is a magician.

Mike.

Haha! Very true. BUT, You wouldn't do that would you, you'd walk into a room and ask to borrow a pen. Even if you asked to borrow a pen or a pencil, chances are you're more likely to be handed a pen.

Still, as Seige points out, it's horses for courses. Fair point on the bleed through and I guess if you don't draw attention to the fact that you're using a pencil no one will question it.

you get:
nice shiny tin to keep it all in
two boons
replacement "parts"
sticky substances
automatic pencil that matches everything
booklet of routines

you'll genuinely never have to buy another one again...alot that claim are refillable, are kind of, but it takes ages of fiddling about...these are pretty easy to change...

i dont leave home without my shiny box

Iain cheers you have sold me on Lincoln best, looked at these before as I can't get on with Swamis at all and have used a boon for years.

lol at the "ikea" pencils !! I used to collect those as a child, and now I still have a big bunch left. I personally use the TT writer. Other types never suited me.

Argos is also good for pencils ;-)

I had no problem using my swami, then it broke, the next one broke the same day, I have one left and I need to be careful with it. Any tips on handling it. I think it may have broken due to 'fitting' (bending wings etc) it in the cold?

thanks,
Sea.
