David Copperfield and the Fountain of Youth

Postby Raymond du Plessis » Feb 23rd, '08, 13:04

This is pretty old news, anyway. Of all the weird claim magicians have made over the years, I find this the most ludicrous:

Is he a loony? I've probably COMPLETELY misunderstood the articles I've read, maybe Copperfield is simply adding a touch of magic to his advertising.
Can any of you make out what he's trying to say?

Loony, no. Excellent publicist - yes!

Ok, don't get me wrong, I do have a lot of respect for him and greatly admire what he does, I just think this "Fountain of Youth" thing is a bit too weird.

I agree, but it's no weirder than Uri Geller's claims.

Maybe it's the pre-publicity for an effect he's working on?

Raymond asks: "Is he a loony?"

Like a fox!

This may make his the best self-promoter since Houdini!

(And note the pictures of DC with the aptly named Robin "Leach"!)

Mmm, the pre-publicity thing you mentioned could be it.

Like you said, Uri's claims are just as strange, but to me theres no doubt that Geller is a fraudster, he used to me a magician, he's just blending the so called "supernatural" into his metal bending illusions.

Just maybe he has found the fountain of youth. Have you ever thought of that? Hmmmm? Lets face it the man has to be in his 50's and maybe you just think there is a lot of plastic work done. So to all ye evil nay sayers....ah never mind, couldn't keep a straight face.

. . . and maybe Copperfield is the Pope.

After all, you never see the two of them together :!:
