Dell printer cartridges??

Postby themagicwand » Feb 22nd, '08, 17:21

A few years ago I purchased a Dell pc. Since then I have hadto order dell printer cartridges through Dell. I was wondering - is it possible to purchase replacement cartridges that aren't official Dell merchandise, a bit like one can purchase cheaper cartridges that fit Hewlett Packard printers etc???

Any info gratefully received.

I have a Dell one too. Although it is just a re-badged Lexmark printer, the Lexmark cartridges don't work because of an extra bit of plastic which is annoying. So refills is prob the best way to do it. Although there are some places which will pay you for your old ink cartridges, so you can get a bit back that way...

I have a hp printer, and you can get cartridges really cheaply on ebay and amazon (and they contain more ink usually too). The main thing to check is the cartridge number (mine is a three digit one). As long as they match up, they are fine. Refurbished ones cost me about £3-4 as opposed to £20-30.
If this isn't possible with Dell printers, then depending on how much you use a printer, I would consider changing brands and buying a different one, as you will have recouped you outlay once you have bought a couple of cartridges for it.
