No but I'll be at Reading as usual and hopefully Glasto. Never done V actually but it's supposed to be good.

It'll most probably be latitude or the Big Chill for me this year.

Wouldn't mind seeing The Feeling, but I went to a festival once and it's a case of never again.

Reading 1991, torrential rain while trying to put the tent up, though not enough rain to soften the iron ground. Then baking sunshine for the three days leading to sweat-caked tent, sweat-caked punters, disgusting toilets, and dehydration that was only enhanced by all the beer.

However, Carter, Ned's, Blur, Flowered Up, Frank Sidebottom, James and pre-fame Nirvana were all great.

I love festivals they're like little holidays, you can forget about literally everything except where the next beer's coming from and avoiding eating, not cos it's cheating but out of a firm refusal to line the pockets of The Man who sets the price of a cheese burger at over a fiver.

At Reading this year I intend to use Beard's house as a sort of hotel. The sort where you don't pay.

Staying at a house is cheating and will spoil your enjoyment of the preceedings.
Festivals thesedays are getting far too posh. At the Big Chill last year I was aghast at all the people queuing for the showers each morning.... It's a festival and the reason wet wipes were invented.
Kids today have no sense of festival spirit.

Also, Bronz, be careful staying at beards as I've heard stories of grown men waking up groggy with a ball gag in their mouth and........well you've seen pulp fiction right?

Don't worry on both counts mate, I don't intend to actually sleep in the beard household, just use it for free hot food and perhaps a wash if it gets too muddy. And my old uncle Marcelus will be looking out for me.

I share your disgust at people nowadays mincing around and conditioning their locks at a festival, it's mostly 'rock chicks' who have to attend to achieve a modicum of Kate Moss cool but really dread the idea of going outside for more than a couple of hours. The excrutiating Jo Whiley is the pinnacle (or perhaps nadir) of this pretentious class of vapid losers.

If V is anything like Glastonbury then I can understand the idea. Last year my youngest son brought half the site back on him, his clothes, tent and boots. He tells me it's compulsory and takes no account of the free eco friendly toilet rolls .....

I'll be at Reading this year...

and no I don't pop home for food/shower/toilet/sex for that is cheating!

Half the point of Reading fest is the camping "experience" ;)

Love

Crikey Beardy, food shower toilet sex? That sounds awfully messy and very specialist, forgive me if I abstain. Having said that I fully agree that you will be camping it up with the best of them, see you in the vip bar.

THANKYOU! I was beginning to think I was the only one who had a severe repulsion to Jo Whiley and everything she stands for, and was even starting to wonder if it was as unjustified as my friends say. But no, I'm right.

Having said that, Jo Whiley helps me not to waste my life... my radio alarm goes off, and if I don't need to be anywhere (and sometimes if I do) I'll just let it play as I sleep. I'll continue to snooze regardless of important meetings, growing hunger pangs or the desperate need to urinate, but when Jo Whiley comes on I can't get out of bed quick enough to turn the effing radio off!

I too have a problem with her, the thing that bugs me and I dont know why.. is after a new record is played or something from the live lounge (i enjoy some of that) she reads the texts out..

"Mark from leads said it made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up.. bla bla sam from london said what a voice..."

It just really annoys me and i dont know why

anyway V Festival woohoo cant wait good line up just hope its better weather than last year :)

Nobody has yet explained this thread for the foreigners on the board. What is V Festival and why is it distributed over so many cities?

(We have our own festival at this time of year, but it has nothing to do with the letter V.)
