Anyway back to magic! got winks diary DVD and it is great, need a few more live performnaces before reviewing

I got the original Ring a few months back after loving the Hollywood version. And again have got the original grudge after loving the Hollywood versions. Have also got Dark Water.

I think the japanese horror films are really carrying the torch at the moment for "real" horror as opposed to the silly I Know What You Did Last Summer type horror where it's just a guy in a mask with a knife. The solution to that kind of bogey man is to smack him around the head with a baseball bat. The nasties in Ring and Grudge are slightly deeper and more disturbing than that. Reminds me of the Exorcist and other 1970's Hollywood horror.

Japanese horror films are brilliant. Although actually most Japanese films are.
Battle Royale (I and II), the Ring series, the Grudge, Dark Water, Akira (I know it's manga but still..), Ghost In The Shell etc etc.

I even took a class in Japanese Cinema at college :lol:
