There's always card in wine bottle, card under wine bottle, not to mention there's also card under coaster, card to sugar packet, card to....oops.

There are plenty of options for non-card stuff. Take a step back and think about what you'd find in a typical bar/restaurant. Gather up a list of potential items and then begin a search to find resources that will teach you how to use said objects - or think about ways to apply what you already know to these items.

The potential is amazing, really. Coasters, creamers, utensils, sugar packets, bottles, drink glasses, coins, money, candles - that's just the tip of the iceberg.

That's my advice: Take a look at what is readily available, and go crazy.

What i find interesting about cards is that they are seen as magic items equally as much as playable game.

Almost all laymen know at least one card trick.

A magician witout cards is like a butterfly witout wings...thats makes a catterpillar doing coin tricks or something

Yea, but remember that catterpillars are magic, too. "...And for my next trick I shall encase myself in a cocoon constructed of my own spit and poo, dangle from a twig, and some weeks later emerge before your waiting eyes in regal splendour!"

why not, and bear with me on this...

just take your favourite card effects, and instead of playing cards, substitute them for:

business cards with pictures on them
photos
get some postcards of famous paintings and cut them up into strips

and go from there? i personally hate too many "here's your card, back it goes, its lots..now here it is..." but if its done in an interesting and unusual way, then it becomes something bigger...

probably too mentalist-minded, but why not make a sven-deck out of photos? i've used one for ages for my own work...lots of fun you can have with that...
