Hi, if you're wanting to learn cards get yourself a copy of Royal Road to Card Magic and an ordinary deck of cards. There's enough there to keep you going for ages. :D

Hello! i began with the following books:

Royal Road To Card Magic
Bobo's modern coin magic
13 Steps to mentalism.

There are now many good DVDs on card magic

Royal Road to card magic (5 DVD L & L edition)
Born to perform

I would get some normal bicycle cards and slowly beginning the Royal road book. This will teach you many things you need to know. If you want to buy a gimmick deck to do a trick right away then maybe buy a stipper deck or a svengali deck. You can get inexpensive booklets to show you how to use these decks.

When you begin to study a book or DVD take your time. Slowly work through each section and try not to move on until you are happy you have understood and can perform the material.
