Mr Stone - E

Postby dimabbq » Oct 19th, '07, 23:26

Does anyone know the name of the trick performed by David Stone on his DVD Real Secrets of Magic 2. It's the one where he puts the spectator's card into the middle, then turns over the top card (which isnt the chosen one) and then shows the whole deck to be face-up apart from the chosen card.
You can find the video on Ellusionist.com

PS - I cant believe Ellusionist managed to get David Stone on board. It's like people say: they have some awful tricks, yet sometimes you'll find an absolute belter among the trash.

I didn't realise they'd got him on board... what a shame, David Stone is one of my favourite magicians to watch perform. He's energetic, charming, performs incredibly smoothly - quite why he's made this choice I have no idea. Well, one idea, but it's disappointing. :?

Since when was David on board at E? From what I can remember, E had only acquired the exclusive distribution rights to RSOM Vol 2 in North America, which has since run out.

Am I missing something here?

David taught this trick in his lecture i saw last year.

it's a version of the triumph of which there are many out there.

Quite nice and very quick and simple. The story he tells about how he was showed the trick by a kid is pretty funny

There are quite a few ways of doing this, there's a quick and easy version in Royal Road (might even be a couple) and I'm pretty sure Mark Wilson's got a variation too.

If I'm thinking along the right lines as M'lady then I think it's a variation of Topsy Turvy Cards (it uses the same principle) and is in most beginners books. I doubt this is the same method as David Stone's but it is the same kind of effect.
As simple as it may be, it does impress a layman with the right presentation.

There's a slight subtlety to Stone's method that makes it more convincing and it certainly catches you by surprise. Effectively though it's the same principle as all the aforementioned beginner stuff.
