I think you're def not alone  .

I take it you've just been watching David Blaine - Magic Man, on now on ITV4  .

I too don't like his style (just my personal opinion  ) - everytime I watch him I cringe, I just had to leave the room and come and lurk on TM for a while, as I couldn't stand any more of the pain of watching him on TV  .

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

I get that feeling about Blaine, too. However, I'm not good at suffering fools to begin with. Sometimes I'll see something on TV that makes me cringe so much I have to leave the room for awhile.

I am special.

no i dont...i still can sit and watch his early stuff...i quite liked his stoner-persona...

well, ok - that's not why he did it like that, it was to suposedly do something, i wont say what...but it worked for him eh...

its been kinda trendy to knock him, i've not liked all he's done sure, but hey, at least he doesnt produce motorbikes and call it mentalism, nor does he reveal how things work under the guise of "encouragement" as angel does...he smells of poo...

blaine's alright in my book...and we all owe it to him for making it popular and interesting once more...just cos it spawned monsters, thats marketing for you, not purely down to him...

Yeap we can all say he is c*** (not the best) hands up who has a TV show except magic mark. I agree with Abraxus its trendy to knock him but the man has an inpressive C.V.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

The man does a good tilt.

Seriously though, I think it worked very well in it's day, and I'm pleased for what he did to the popularity of magic. I'm even prepared to suffer the haranguing that I get, even to this day, when I perform anything that was similar at all to anything that Blaine ever did (if you follow), simply because he helped to make magic popular again.

And at least he didn't wear one of those f***** Timmy Mallet waistcoats.

I think his performance is excellent. He had me convinced magic was real when i was a stupid kid.

He gives of a mysterious impression like hes some weirdo thats just showing off some strange ability he was born with.Like the way he stares at his spectators after he's done something.

One thing however which is rediculous at times is the way he keeps saying watch watch watch look look watch

Sorry i did'nt know it was trendy to knock him. May be it because im watching him more as a layperson as thats more or less what i would still class my self . i think if you have been performing magic for along time you may see him as an ambassador. Maybe when i learn more i will understand and appreciate his performance. If he sets out to get me to turn over it work'd very well lol

Another point worth remembering about Blaine's presentation on street magic is that his programmes were originally recorded in the early 90's so they're perhaps the same age or a little older than some forum members.

At the time they were made they were considered as being original and literally had the whole of the country talking about how good it was.

I like Blaine when he performs magic. I don't like Blaine when he hangs suspended by his big toe, over a pit of cobras while refusing to blink for 146 days. Or something.

He can be pretty spectacular, someone posted somewhere else that they've never like D/L's because there so obvious etc etc. Well as a young budding magician, I really couldnt see his. I mean that two card monte, originally I was SURE he must have been switiching the cards as he "said" he was. Only now I watch it and really analyse it and witha greater understanding does it become slightly more clear. He is a genius with cards and can present simple tricks as absolute wonders. He need to really turn into a magicians magician to win back a lot of the unappreciative people here! 8)

Flood,

His DL is one of the worst I've ever seen a pro do. Those that know me know the DL done badly is a bug of mine

I agree.
But he didn't say that he liked them, only that they were "super sexual".

Hmm.

Suppose we all like a bit of rough occasionally.
