Blue back Vs Red Back and why??

Postby thebigcheese » Mar 25th, '08, 15:57

I dont know if this thread has already been done, but I searched and found it hasn't to my knowledge so here it is....

Talking to my local dealer the other day, wanting some red Bikes and he said he didnt know what the sudden surge in people wanting red backs was all about, as blue have always been the most popular for years. This set me thinking
Do you prefer to use blue backs or red backs and why??
I'm more of a red back person as in my experience, red seems the traditional colour of cards and has a certain air about it. I am aware I need to get out more-I do apologise!
Whats everyones opinion??

The only thing I ever specifically use red backed cards for are ones where something gets written on the back of the card, as black sharpie shows up well on red but no so good on blue.

Other than that, I just do a trick with the first deck of cards I get my grubby little mitts on

I use both, it really makes no difference to me.

I voted for red. In my youth, I much preferred blue to red. However, for some strange reason, I have taken a fancy to red and started using that most of the time. It also depends on what trick I am doing; for example, when I perform a colour changing deck trick, I always change the deck from blue to red and never vice versa. I just think a red deck has more of a visual impact when spread across the table/mat. I think I'm just bored of blue backs at the moment but these things come in cycles (excuse the pun), don't they? Ask me again in a few months and I'll probably say I prefer green backs or something.

I'll usually use red, purely for the reason that I've got a couple of two deck routines that need a little something doing to the decks first. I use both colours for this sort of trick but always set up in a way that the red deck is the deck I handle first

Red, not that it makes a horrible difference to me however red just stands out. Don't see too many blue sponge balls. (I smell inuendo coming) I don't know if this still holds true, but for a long while there it was hard to match blue backed cards due to die lots so getting gimmicks to match your deck could be tricky (Gimmicks? What are those?) Red backs just seemed to match better or perhaps they were less noticable.

At any rate I'm not going to vote for two reasons. I don't like poles. And I'm not sure of what difference it can possibly make.

I like the blue backs. I've seen the red backs so much I just like using blue to mix it up a little bit. However, the red backs can be a more crisper color than the blues.

You know, I thought of that after I hit the submit button but then figured what the heck I'm part Polish myself.

Do you know what I really hate? Italians, with their nasty slanty little eyes. No, wait... that's italics!

<sounds of tumbleweed>

Ahem. Any road up, I prefer blue decks, unless like Ecko, I need to write on the backs.

I read somewhere that the Psychological Properties of the colour red over welm those of the colour blue, so people are more akin to pay attention to th effect using Red cards - however i go for what ever i grab but if i will be using any gaffs then i stick to that colour throughout the whole show!

This has never even occured to me. When I buy bricks I always buy 50/50 and use whatever is in my hand.

I think if you do a card trick and the spectator is like "That was a cool trick, but I can't believe they used blue cards, what an idiot!" then you're doing something terribly wrong.

It matters not.

Id rather use a blue deck over a red deck any day. I don't know why, it feels more elegant I guess.
