Best Tricks for Black Tigers

Postby bananafish » Jul 6th, '04, 11:58

I thought that this warranted a topic of it's own, I just wasn't sure where to put it. I did consider putting it in the MO area, but then as we would just be naming routines I see no reason why it shouldnt be shared by all.

These cards are special - well if not specuial you have to admit that they are at least very different from what we, and the spectator are used to , therefore I feel very strngly that the routiones we use for them shouldnt be you every day ambitious card or Dr. Daleys last trick, but we should give more thought as to the effects we use with them.

My feelings are that they should be effects with a dark and sinister theme.

One that immediately springs to mind is the new Omen effect that is due out very soon (I hope!). It certainly has the right feel to it from reading the blurb, the only question is how easy would it be to adapt to using a BT deck?.

Other effects already named in the other BT thread (under reviews) are
The Visitor (Larry Jennings) and Jazz Aces (?) but I am loooking for more Dark Magic type effects. Effects that give a reason for bringing out a different and very sinister looking deck of cards...

Any ideas?

Assuming all the decks have similar variations - the additional regular faced card, either the twisted Ace or something else, then there are already some gaffed cards which might be used. Add to that the alternative deck with the red pips and there's a definite morphing idea there.

Start with the regular Black Tiger card, mention that there was a problem with the supply of ink to the Card factory so these cards are sort of 'different' but they're working on the problem right now. Morph it to the red equivalent mentioning that the red ink has arrived and then possibly on to one where the card is totally black and mention that the black ink also seems to have arrived. The only problem I have is figuring out how to morph from one to the other - DL's are one way but I'm sure the talented ones amongst us will know another 42 different ways of doing it!

:)

I have written a 3-trick set, which utilises Black Tigers.

It's going to be released shortly, but to whet your appetitie:

1. Persistence of Vision
2. The legend of Lucky Jackie
3. Black Heart

Persistence of Vision is a rather odd optical illusion, which goes from a trick of the eye to a trick of the mind.

The legend of Luckie Jackie is the story of a gambler, who even after his death had a few 'tricks up his sleeve'

Black Heart is a pure mentalism routine... but utilises the black deck's inherent 'retention of vision failure' properties to the full.

I will let y'all know where and when you can get your hands on them!!!

Am drooling already! Would these work with both sorts of Black Tigers - the red pips as well as the ordinary ones?

Yes, all breeds of Tiger are useable.

I've tried to capture the 'character' of the cards in each effect, and each effect flows nicely from one to the other.

This isn't a plug, by the way. Just thought y'all would like to know :)

HOWEVER... the effect DOES require that you have the 'skewed' ace and the reversed 3.

Nuff said... :)

Oh, and a mixture of other items will be needed... like envelopes etc. But trust me—there's nothing tricky in there.

Am I a mind reader or what? ( OK, I'm a 'what')

I'm really starting to feel that i should get myself a pack or two of these!

To start with I was shocked at the price, but the imagination keeps wondering and I am sure that they'll be worth it. Oh well, I deserve to treat myself, I just hope I don't run out of money before I start work!
