I would like to improve my pass. I found that Royal Road and Card College, Crash Course 2 were very basic, it only went through the principle move. Apart from the actual cover passes, it doesn't go in-depth of how to cover it like those two guys. Can anyone suggest a resource that goes in-depth in classic passes to the extent of those guys' passes?

Excellent vids! The only resource I've got is Richard Kaufman's "On The Pass". It's comprehensive and teaches you a number of types of pass, but I'm ham fisted - you can see my pass from space!

Pass with Care by Peter Cassford goes in depth with the classic pass. It gives a lot of great tips on the pass. Also, it shows that you don't have to do the pass quickly. He demonstrates a ten second pass, which is still undetectable. I highly recommend his video.

Well before I spend thirty dollars on 'Pass With Care', do you know where I can view a preview or anything? I have learned the pass from many different resources, and it is all basic. I really need to see if this is true.

I just do a pretty basic pass learned from Card College. Never been busted with it and I do it multiple times in any night. I even use it with a face up card as part of an ACR routine to show how obedient my cards are.

Mind you I could shield a small country from the sun using my giant hands so that probably helps.

But the basic classic pass taught in CC does not teach you the natural cover methods. I find that if I do that exact pass, many people see through it, even after a lot of practice.

Perhaps I am mistaken but surely no pass is completely invisible?

You could have a look at the turnover or dribble pass which helps hide the sleight. But I thought the best thing to do, is use more misdirection.

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.

Amen, brother!
anyone who's seen me do a pass will go "oo, look, a pass" but anyone who's seen me do it in a trick (for them) (hopefully) won't have seen it.

Those videos, frankly, fried my brain. I've just looked at my pass in the mirror and I now want to weep. Thanks for making me painfully aware of how rubbish I am  :D

I learned my invisible classic pass (assuming the audience have their eyes closed) from various sources including Tarbell, Card College and Royal Road.

Those videos were both very impressive.

I consider the pass to be an art in itself, not just a utility move, and I practice it obsessively.

I'm nowhere near as slick as the guys in those vids, but I intend to be soon. I've blown people's minds using my pass in an ACR before when they've suggested that I'm not really putting their signed card into the middle - and then when you say "This time let's leave it face up" they react so brilliantly.

I know there are lots of card magicians who insist the pass isn't essential, but it surely is. How else are you going to react when someone insists on genuinely seeing the card go into the middle, other than just walking away because you can't do it?

Respect to the pass!!! :)

I like the pass a lot but misdirection is a key aspect to mine as the actual mechanics of it are quite poor.

I think that the "the pass is essential!" is a bit of an elitist cardie thing (no disrespect Queen of Clubs) and in response to the walking away because you cant do it thing, there are numerous ways around it. The "one handed pass" works well here and also a nuance I picked up from Jay Sankey means I can show the card fairly in the middle and then with no moves, have it instantly come back to the top. All with not a pass in sight.

And for the record, if the only way you can slip a pass un-noticed into a card routine is to have it nigh on invisible, in my opinion I think a study and mastery of misdirection may be the prescription.

many of card of potential excellent card conjurers of the previous centuries gave up on card magic altogether thinking that the pass was so essential and that its mastery must be accomplished before proceeding further into card magic.Unfortunetly thats just an ignorant point of view as i've always managed to entertain without it.

I have the riffle pass fairly good. Not invisible but good enough for a face up reveal in ACR.Although it can be annoying and your fingers must be moistiened in the right way.I can do it very well but never witout thinking of what im doing.
