Five Times Five Japan: Republished by Richard Kaufman

The Effect: Five famous Japanese Magicians magic is published. There are some great card and coin routines that can be added to existing routines or to create new ones.

Cost:I got my copy for $32 from Penguin Magic. This is the cheapest price that I've found.

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Anywhere from 2-4, some of the coin moves can be difficult.

Review: This is the Japan edition in the series. It has some great effects in it. A lot of the effects use either gimmicked cards or gimmicks. But all the coin routines are impromptu. One of the popular tricks from the book is called New Era Moving Pips. It's where a card is selected and returned to the deck, a prediction is shown on the back of the box. It is wrong, the magician gestures at the prediction and the card pips move to create the correct card.

Overall

This book has some great effects in it and a coin move that can be used in any routine. Some of the effects are impractical for a daily basis as they involve destroying jokers. But it's a good book a little pricey for it's size, but if your looking to add routines or tricks to your close-up act, this is a great book.

Marks out of ten? 8

Thanks for taking the time to read it!

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.
