Where can I learn this beautiful effect?!!

Postby queen of clubs » Apr 14th, '08, 18:17

There's a great show on BBC3 (UK) called The Real Hustle where R Paul Wilson and two others go around showing how scams are carried out... Anyway, one of the idents they use to transition between different sections of the programme shows Paul changing an indifferent spread of 5 cards into a royal flush with a wave of his hand.

I can't work out if this is genuine, or camera effects, but if it is real can someone please tell me where I can learn the effect, because it's exactly the sort of thing I'd love to include in a performance and I'm really excited about the prospect of mastering it.

I've made a very short clip from the show for people to take a look at and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction :)

That's an excellent effect. Can't imagine for the life of me how it's done, but I guess that's why I'm here.

This is Paul's own Fan-2-C trick (aka Completely Zapped), available from his website.

(click on the Circle of Confidence link)

I have it and it's brilliant. You get a 52-page PDF document which explains everything and then some. You have to make your own gimmick (easy) but it's worth it.

EDIT: Zapped is not examinable (unless you switch the cards out), but Fan-2-C is! Yep, you can hand the cards out for examination afterwards. You can do exactly what Paul does in the show: make the change then toss the cards onto the table (no switch). Great stuff.

Thank you so much, Abraxus and Replicant! Very fast and helpful replies!!

Zapped looks interesting but from the reviews I'm not sure it's for me. As for R Paul Wilson's own version, I think that's exactly what I'm looking for, since it's him on the TV show performing it and tossing the cards down after the change. Brilliant!!! I'm desperately trying to remember my PayPal password, haha!

The problem with zapped is that it has been ripped off to death. As usuall most of the ripoff's are horribly constructed and rather finicky to use.
