I'd love to get one and play around with, but unfortunately the hat doesn't fit my big, fat head.

They mentioned an xl version (doesn't that make me feel good, knowing I need plus-size magic!), but I never saw any mention of it actually coming out.

personally i couldnt think of anything more awful to put on my hairy noggin...

even for a bet, i would never wear one...same goes for sunglasses...

i'd imagine they'd be quite innocuous to use if it seemed natural to you to wear one though...dont magicshop sell them? could they help?

Several working Buskers here in the States have sneered at the Ball Cap; it's a great idea but with how obsessed people are in this country now days with hygiene issues and all, it's not practical... especially if you are prone to sweating a great deal...

The inside-front of a baseball cap is designed to mop sweat from your forehead. I wouldn't want to put my hand inside someone's sweaty hat...

If you want folks to believe it's a "normal" ball cap, of course you'd wear it! That is how you prove it to be "normal" and beyond suspicion.

If I were to use the thing I'd have a stooge in the audience wearing it so I could borrow the hat as I moved into whatever routine it is I'd be doing. Psychologically this adds a tremendous amount of impact around whatever effect you do; it is they way Mentalists and Bizarrists have worked for more than a few generations (for the most part) in that "normal" (as in, it is something that is innocently present and used) completely takes away from our (the performer) randomly introducing an item such as his wallet or card case, etc.

Whenever I have a gaffed item like the Ball Cap or a Wallet, etc. I do my best to have someone I know and trust, to "lend it to me" during the act. I've likewise done reverse pick-pocket bits, loading one of my tools (such as a PK Pen) into a person's pocket... my whole objective is to create distance between me and the item I use. In the mind the public a borrowed item does not bring in reason for suspicion... then again, nothing creates suspicion more than "inspecting" something to prove it to be "innocent" or getting carried away with "making sure" something is impossible i.e. 100ft. of medical bandage + Duct Tape, Aluminum Foil and lead masks set about your entire head prior to driving a car down the road or locating a hidden something or other within the theater...

Simple! That's what works best. When it comes to this particular device (the Ball Cap) I love the idea but given today's outrageous sense of drama when it comes to the idea of possibly catching a germ of some kind... well, it's no longer practical... though there is room there, given said fanaticism, for a great bit of comedy... pull out a bottle of hand sanitizer, some towelettes and other such particulars whilst talking about being all so careful when touching other people's things (especially if you take the hat from a very well groomed chap)... its the kind of act that would make a very loud (and over due) social statement when it comes to how ridiculous we've become as a society.
