Wilson 'Kit'

Hello,

We have a tradition in my office of giving birthday presents. So, following the almost unanimous praise here, I've asked for the Wilson Complete Course.

I won't actually get my grubby little hands on it until the end of the month*, but I will be going to Alakazam's before then. So my question...

What items should I buy to prepare for my total immersion in the book? I already have cards, coins and rope. What else do I need?

Thanks,

Guy

* It's already in the office, wrapped up and waiting. I can hear it calling to me from my secretary's drawers.

A "Do Not Disturb" sign to hang on your door.

Cards, coins and rope will keep you going for more than long enough. In fact, I may even go so far as to say that's a bit too much for now.
Cards kept me busy for 18 months before I even picked up a coin.
And I have never even seen rope before.

Good luck!
:D

The good part of Mark Wilson's is looking through it yourself and seeing what would suit you the best. So I don't really think there's anything I could reccommend at the minute.

Although you could buy a crow bar and break into your secretary's drawers. :D (and you can take that meaning whatever way you want)

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.

I would suggest keeping an eye out for some basic sleight tutorials for cards and/or coins (various threads around here mention the good ones).

I'm mostly a book-learner myself but with sleights it sometimes helps to see it in movement as a supplement to reading materials.

Good luck,
-Tyler

You may want to add sponge balls and some silks. But really you already have plenty so don't overwhelm yourself. Although I think sponge balls are a good investment.

I agree entirely. I suggest a set of 2" red supersoft balls. If you're actually visiting a shop, see if you can try the 1 1/2" ones, and try the regular density ones too.

To make the most out of Mark Wilson I think you really have to take your time with it. Work through each section and treat it almost like a course framework. Start off with the first chapter (or perhaps one that you have a particular interest in) and take your time with it, learn everything it's got to teach. Then when you've finished that, you might find that you want to read some more on the subject. When you're happy with that subject, go back to Wilson and another chapter.

Take time with it.
There is a fantastic cups and balls routine, which you should look into but stick to the other things first! :)
