Hi all - been lurking on this forum for a little while, finally got around to registering :)

I'm an amateur but I have about 5 yrs experience doing magic tricks for family, friends and the occasional complete stranger as well *usually wherever I buy my cards lol*

Anyway, I just learned this trick a few days ago, and I wanted to get some advise from you pro's out there:

I'm having problems with a couple of my techiques: Primairly the DL, but I don't know if mentioning that is allowed or not here... Anyway, that's one of the techniques I'm struggling with. I can DO it, but not like I want to - I wanted to get good at the double card push-off or something like that, but for the moment I'm stuck using the pinky break technique.

Just wanted to know if anyone had any advise on perhaps a way to practice something like that or not, and I also wanted to post a quick little clip of me doing a magic trick *card trick*

Again, please keep in mind that I JUST learned this new trick so I'm still working on it, and there's no sound on purpose.

Hope you all enjoy and I look forward to talking/chatting with you all!

Hi there Enigmahack, and welcome to the forums.
It was nice you posted this clip.
We usualy refer to the DL as a dl but writing the word DL should be ok.
If you want help with the dl, I can recommend the Royal Road to Card Magic if you havent got this book. It really is a great book (you'll find reviews on it on this forum) and has a chapter on the dl.
The book is incredibly well explained, and tells you some real neat tricks at the end of each chapter to help you practise your new found sleight.
Hope this helps. :D

I bought Daryl's Ambitious Card video - which relies totally on the double (or triple).
He explains a couple of ways of doing it - and his Ambitious routine is well explained. With lots of extra ways of performing the Ambitious card at the end of the tape.

I then bought Gregory Wilson's DL video. His performances are from a slight distance, and could've been filmed better - but his explainations are great - close-up, going into detail where to grip the cards etc.
Gives you the confidence to have a go.
Mind you, he seems to have MASSIVE hands.

Both these videos / DVDs would be a good start to the DL - though don't overlook books as tutorials.

Good luck
