Mentalists who use remote viewing as a premiss for their effects may be interested in some genuine RV experiments taking place in Covent Garden, London on Saturday 26th. The PSI-Society, of which I am a member, is investigating the effect of Hypnosis on RV success (as well as other experiments).

I think it would be interesting for mentalists to see how spectators view genuine RV, for example what they consider as impressive - is a weak partial success particulary impressive? Will nothing less than a perfect reproduction do? And so on.

I'd love to come down as an observer, but it's just not going to be possible.

Remote viewing is basically ESP by another name. Typically it involves someone in one location (the viewer) attempting to see in their mind what someone else in another location is currently seeing (the observer). However it could also include 'seeing' a document sealed in an envelope or the contents of a locked safe and so on and so on. The Birtish Military carried out an investigation a couple of years back. Infamously, the US spent $20M up until 1995, although interest is resurfacing.

The Psi Society is planning a hypnosis experiment in the near future. One investigation is how successful a novice with no experience at all of hypnosis can be after just 5 minutes of training.
