I love it when people actually "THINK" and find a new way to employ a very old (and nearly forgotten about) principle! Quite clever!

Years ago when I was still working with Ken (Creative Illusions) we came up with a couple of different walking through Mirror bits, my favorite being one I've never produced commercially that incorporates some of Harrary's thinking; If you've ever seen Franz do the 2-D vanish then you have some idea as to how this piece looks except there are two parts in which the mage is "stuck" into the mirror. In phase one you have a total absorption into the mirror which can be spun about showing your entire body wedged into the glass front & back. In Phase Two the large spandex panels got back into play allowing for the 3-D reprise of your body but something seems to be "wrong".. the screens are removed revealing you partway stuck on either side of the mirror... then of course the penetration is completed.

It's not a piece for the faint of heart in that it is HUGE when assembled not to mention the rather hefty cost around it due to the technology that's being exploited, but dang if it's not cool

 There are those times when I miss my big funky box tricks

Sound like a great illusion, would love to see someone perform that stopping the act half way and seeing the body half half would really be wicked.

I love the walking trough mirror illusion just because its such a diffrent act in the sence that its not someone about to get killed with spikes of a vanish etc its something which everone has at home for starters so it really plays on peoples logic. (by that i mean not everyone has an origami box in the living room as an everyday item) PLus the inspection and the sticker with the signed name on it and all that makes this illusion quite amazing.

I can't recall which it was, I believe it was Princess Tenko that had a piece in which the partial penetration was shown... I know Creative bid on the piece but I think Bill Smith actually built it... her idea was entirely independent of my own concept, my workings coming several years before hers; nonetheless, it was the kind of thing that was bound to happen sooner or later, it's just too cool an idea.

i thought the version Lattimer did on saturday was rather deceptive.
I still think the best version ive seen, is the one Wayne Dobson did years ago, that was built by Peter Hart.i saw a fair bit of peter at the time, and i was quite happy to find out that I had more or less guessed the method.
Ver clever it was too!

I suppose I am just jaded. I thought it overly dramatic and quite frankly not that impressive. Granted I've been around awhile and have never been a fan of the grand illusions. But I suppose if the Lay person enjoys it, more power to the performer.

I am fairly new to magic and I have never been impressed with grand stage illusions. I had guessed the workings of Latimer's mirror illusion the moment I realised what they were going to do. I don't mean that as a brag but to illustrate that I believe most grand illusions don't take a genius to work out and they often insult the audiences intelligence to the point that I feel embarrassed for them. Even before I started learning, they seemed a bit cringe-worthy.

I can appreciate the effort that's gone in to such devices and their presentation but it's not my bag. All is not lost however. Occasionally an act will prove to be the exception to the rule and blow me away. Those moments of wonder don't happen often as with close up or mentalism though which is why I enjoy them far far far more.
