Obviously we don't want our friendly magic forum to be full of rants etc, but people blame "politics and religion" as if, if we could only banish them, we'd all live at peace...

I do however, blame Labour for my top change of late..It used to be perfect! Bloomin politicians eh??

The Bible does say that we are above them and they are here basically for our use as we see fit. So in that regard you should have failed because you can disagree all you want, but its in there.

But, see that's so my point. She was so blinkered by Christian views that she couldn't accept anything else. My essay was a religious essay, it included supporting arguements from many world religions but she wouldn't give any credit to those arguements.

I think religious debates can be really interesting, so long as people respect each others views and it doesn't turn into a bitching match.

Lady of Mystery I completely agree with you. I have always followed the Marxian Dialectical. Which is quite simple. Marx believed that you take two opposing views, watch where they clash and see if you can't pick out something new from that point or at least enlighten both views.

Yes I have a degree in sociology and thats about all I remember from my manditory classical social thought class. Okay I remember a little more but I would bore everyone to death with it all. I find most people become very dogmatic when it comes to this type of discussion and if we can put that all aside some interesting stuff can come out of it all, especially if you are into bizarre magic you can weave some pretty good stories around it all.

Notice how I tried to bring this back to magic. :)
