After I introduced myself here now my first post. I hope I am not giving away too much. If I do I'm sorry. Please, moderators, erase it!
For only my question skip to the last paragraph - the following intro is to help you just understand my situation better.
Right now I am working on my own version of the "Ace Assembly"/"McDonalds Aces"/"Dreaming Aces" or whatever you want to call it. I really lost track which came first and what the differences and improvements are in the different version.
(Would be nice if someone could explain them here to me too.)
My version is based on David Copperfield's "Grandpa's Aces". It appealed to me because of the very visual appearances and vanishes. First Shotgun Aces to produce them, then a really nice slide to "hide" them.
This one just has the problem that as far as I know (but my knowledge doesn't go farther than to the next corner) it is not angle proof. So I replaced them with close-up vanishes.
I tried to keep the clear three-part climax by vanishing the aces more and more visually.
Okay, now there is a problem. I didn't learn the techniques from books but just by watching others do it so I don't know the proper names. I'll try to make clear what I do without giving too much away - here it would also be nice if someone could tell me the name of the slide/effect
First a normal DL vanish, then a "slide change" (from spectators perspective: you cover the cards with your hand take it away and the card is gone. NO PALM involved. I don't really know how to describe this. I hope someone knows what I mean... you slide the second card of the pile to the top - did I give away too much here?),
and then for the third ace I do this "four-corner-flick" (I don't know what it is called either, sorry, but you basically turn over the whole packet with a flick). This way the cards stay in view all the time... it is the most visual one I could think of.
But here lies also the problem:
Does anyone have a good idea how to get the setup of three face-down cards under one single face up ace without doing too much "fancy" stuff?
Remember that the first two vanishes just look like adding the ace to the pile and then doing a magic movement and its gone.
Right now I am thinking of doing it with misdirection and either flipping over the bottom three cards while squaring them or just doing some type of asher twist with the three cards...
Both are not really a solution I would like to perform the routine with but maybe I just have to practice my asher twist a little more^^
It would be great if you have an idea for me - or maybe even a different vanish. I know it is forbidden to share secrets publicly but maybe a hint could be given in which book I can find another vanish or the technique I am searching for to achieve the setup.
Thank you for your thoughts in advance!
