Approved Items Wanted section

Postby mcsgadgets » May 16th, '08, 15:13

Am I right in thinking to post something in the "Approved Items Wanted" section, I have to do a minimum of 50 Posts and then ask for permission?

I believe you are thinking of Magic Bunny's policy, which does not apply here. See the thread about access to the restricted area for more info - I understand the same rules apply to the for sale/wanted forums...

Thank you, I have read the thread and to be honest, it's a shame. You see my dilemma is this.

My magic supplier has just told me he isn't going to stock a "certain product" so I have to find a new supplier quite urgently, now I am not here to "learn secrets" etc, but I don't have time to wait to be granted access to a section on the forum only to ask a question where's there's a chance that no one will know the answer anyway.

Not to worry.

No, you were right the first time around. From the description of the forum:

"Trade of approved items only. Initial post limited to approved users of over 50 posts and only after submitting a PM with full details to a Moderator. Restricted Area Members automatically have approval."

I think it's a pretty automatic process. If you have 50 posts and it's pretty clear you're not just here for cheap magic and secrets you'll get in, but not if you post a lot of nonsense. I never asked for permission - I just had access one day.

The restricted area is a bit of a different beast, it takes quite a lot to get in there to be honest and it seems to be a bit restrictive even past making sure people aren't here for free handouts and secrets.

For the Trading forums, however, it's really pretty easy to get 50 posts if you hang around for awhile and post. I'm more of a quiet person myself, and it took me awhile to get there, but most don't have much trouble at it.

Good luck, and welcome.

Ah, my apologies, mcsgadgets. Sometimes I can't see the wood for the trees.

If you're looking for suggestions about alternative sources of a certain item then you can ask that sort of thing. If you want to advertise a 'want' then that's where the approved status and restricted Trading Section come in. If you see an item offered for sale here you can offer to buy it, there are no restrictions on that sort of response.

Bottom line, we're mainly a Discussion Forum and any trading is just a small add on for members' convenience rather than a full scale commercial trading operation.
