I'll admit to having made jokes about dyslexia.
but only because I am interested in wordplay (mentioned in a post somewhere above).

I actually read something about this sort of thing recently in a book by Jimmy Carr and Lucy Greeves The Naked Jape. I would recommed this book to anyone who writes their own jokes for their routines (which you all should anyway!!!).
But basically it says that to comedians (and the casual joke teller) there really are no boundaries. Each person has their own idea of what is acceptable and what is funny - some people may take something wholly seriously and take offence, when the joker was merely saying it in jest.
