First "Proper" Performance Tonight

Postby Lenoir » May 17th, '08, 17:22

Tonight, that's the 17th May, I will be performing for the first time, properly, as in a planned and expectant audience, in Walthamstow! There will be about 30 odd people, sitting around tables for dinner, where I will do a bit of table hopping, but after it is finished, I'm doing a little close up show to about 15 of them! Close up mat and everything! :o

Anywhom, I tried and tried to find somebody with an adequate video camera to come along, but the best I could find was someones normal digital camera with the add-on video feature, which I decided against!

In the actual sit down routine, I am going to start will an ace assembly(Scarne style), continue on to my ACR (God help me, theres one part I'm so nervous of messing up) and then will finish with a pro-longed Bill Malone style Invisble deck!

Wish me luck folks!

Fantastic! I hope it goes as well as possible for you!!!

What part of the ACR are you scared of messing up? Maybe some of us could offer advice.

Well, I use just one move, other than the obvious D/L from The Royal Road ambitious routine. The move where you find the card on the bottom of the deck, D/L and the slot it in, flip the whole deck round and push the card in, cut a small portion, leave it on top...push in their "card" and its on top. If your familiar with the move, I find it really hard to push the card in, whilst keeping "their" card in place with out exposing the one thats been slid in underneath. Not excactly the best ever explanation, but if you know the move, hopefully you'll know the problem.

You're probably hopping tables as I write this, but hope it's all going well and you come back chipper! :)

I'm back folks, a lot shorted than I anticpated! Got a couple of tables done, and they went down well, luckily there was a large party of 6 children, and spongeballs went down a treat!

As for the little close up session, it went really well, the ace assembly was great, they just couldn't fathem who they could all shuffle the cards, yet I could still cut to an ace! A nice feeling!

As for the ACR, it went super, except for the move I was worried about. But that didn't go bad, oh no! I did the single most stupid, yet lucky thing ever. As I took the D/L'ed card off the bottom, I panicked in a moment of foolishness, and said "I could leave it on the bottom or place it on the top" and as I did that, I dropped it down on the top, then picked "it" up again and said "but the best place is the middle!" Whats more, they all bought it!

Go me!

Well done mate!

I've learnt so much by performing in real situations! I had a great day my self treating a family party as a "gig" at tables and things and it was great.

Hope you learnt a lot, keep us posted
