i am about to embark on my quest to become the greatest magician that ever lived......anyone got any tips on how to start.....good books/ videos or anything????
also i got confused when reading one of the threads what the hell are bikes when ur talking about cards???
oh and i tried doing a bit of slight of hand in getting cards to the top o the deck after someones just put them in a fanned out deck and found out i couldnt fan out the cards evenly or anything....do u need special cards or am i retarded?

ok.. firstly... when "bikes" are reffered to they mean "Bicycle" cards which are a brand of cards made by the US playing card company, they are probably the most commonly used brand of cards for magic purposes.

if its definately cards you want to go with then try reading "the Royal road to card magic" which is available from amazon for about £7 i think

or maybe try and get hold of either "Mark wilsons cyclopedia of magic" or "The practical encyclopedia of magic" by Nicholas Einhorn which offer beginners a vast range of magic in a lot of different disciplines eg. cards, coins, sponges etc

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..

You said you had trouble fanning the cards...
This will probably get better, with the 'bike card thingys' as you put it. Bicycles have an 'Air Cushion Finish', which sounds flashy but just means the cards glide a little bit better, although when you take them out the pack they are wayyyy to slippery - you've got to break them in first with a couple of rifles and springs other shuffles.
There are loads of cards to choose from but most people prefer Bicycle as they also match the backs of any special 'gimmicked' cards you might buy!
I prefer Tally-ho cards for exactly this reason that they don't match the backs and if a magician were watching he or she would know i was using sleight of hand, and i prefer the back design!
There are also different cards for manipulation and fanning decks (which have pretty colours on) and loads of different things. This is where i get them from http://www.cards4magic.co.uk/

Good luck on your quest, although you've got to get past me first !
