Envelopes

Does anybody know if it's ok to seal an envelope with, for example, a sticky label instead of using the gluey stuff that is already on it? Will the post office still process it?

Mike.

I've stuck them down with sellotape before when the sticky hasn't been sticky enough and they've always got through ok.

We used to put those small 'Able Labels' on the back of our envelopes at work until the Post Office wrote asking us not to do it. Apparently the things can sometimes come unstuck and jam up the machinery at the sorting office. We still use sellotape to make sure some envelopes are properly stuck down and we haven't had any complaints about it.

I always sellotape if there is any doubt about it staying closed. B....r the Post Ofice - they should treat it like a small parcel!
