Parking in London?

Postby themagicwand » May 21st, '08, 17:00

I'm gigging on London tomorrow. Have pre-booked my congestion charge (very organised), but was just wondering - anyone know of the parking situation in Hatton Gardens EC1??? Awful or just really really bad?

There are quite a few NCP car parks in London - I would recommend those as opposed to parking meters.

Alternatively park outside London and take the tube.

Hi, try this; http://maps.yell.com/client/yell/?qs=EC1 type in EC1 & you can bring up all the car parks for that area using the tick boxes on the left under LOCAL INFORMATION. Click on the icons & it tell you prices & how long you can stay for. Hope this helps.

Take a look at the Transport for London web site.

All of the NCP car parks have a special fixed parking rate from 18:00 to midnight on Thursday nights so you can park for a fiver.

The web site will tell you where these NCP's are.

I hate driving in London, I always do as Totally Mental said, I always park just outside and train or tube in. Usually costs less too.

As luck would have it there was a car park bang next to the place I was working at. Robbing so-and-so's did charge me £12 for four hours parking though - but not to worry, I was being paid London rates.

My sat nav did insist on having me drive right through the centre of London past Kings Cross and Madam Tussards to get to the M1, rather than hopping onto the A1. Very odd, and added around an hour onto my journey. Still, it is nice to pop into the smoke every now and again to see the townie folk dashing around at a hundred miles an hour before I return back to my country estate.

Carry on Londoners. You're all doing very well.

Hope the show went well, but don't even think of using satnav in Central London. They almost seem to delight in sending you the wrong or hardest way whereas 5 mins with a standard road map that shows one-way streets will make travelling much clearer
